Superhub 3 modem mode woes

I’ve recently moved and been given a Superhub 3 by Virgin. I used to run the Superhub 2 in modem mode with an Apple Time Capsule as the router but I’ve ditched that as it wouldn’t seem to work at all with the Superhub 3. This new house has too many dead spots to be able to work from home other than in direct line of site of the SH3 though 😕

So I’ve just bought, setup and installed an ASUS ROG Rapture GT AC5300 (at £300 this thing promises a lot). I connected it to the SH3 and then updated the ASUS firmware without a hitch etc. Tested the new router works while connected to the SH3z fine.

I went and put the SH3 into modem mode, it gave me the warning about the reboot taking 5-10 mins, now it’s sitting with its magenta light on. The only thing connected to it is my ASUS router.

However, I cannot load a single webpage to load.

Does it matter which Ethernet port I’m using on the SH3? I’m using port 1

Edit: please lock this thread. I’m an idiot. Just needed to reboot both routers...

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode woes

Set it up again with this sequence and see if it works better.

Disconnect all cables from your new router (or Mesh first unit) and unplug it. Put the VM Hub into modem mode (see VM website for “how to” details) and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but not on a Hub4!). Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub must then be powered off. Then, set up your own router/Mesh with the WAN port set to be in DHCP mode, it may be pre-set that way anyway. Make sure it’s fully initialised (leave 5 min) and then put in the WAN cable to the VM hub. Now power up the VM hub and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect other Mesh units to the first one. This order only needs to be done the first time you connect the router to the VM hub.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
