Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

A Virgin Media technician was suppose to visit my property between 4 an 7 pm.

It's 7 pm now. No ring no text and ofcourse no visit. No one turned up.

Rang customer service. That was a waste of time. Operator just said appointment is for between 4-7 and its not 7 yet.  Very rude.

Still not sure if anyone turning up at all.

I work from home. BB is vital for me. Took half day off. But all wasted

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Then you need a backup link and/or a 4G/5G router.

There’s no SLA for residential services and no support for home workers.

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Indeed - Homeworkers where I work are provided a 4g phone to tether to in the case of a broadband loss - you should ask your work for this!

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Hi Nawaz5,

I do apologise for the lack of communication regarding the engineer appointment. Did the appointment go ahead in the end?

Kind regards,

Laurie

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Yes, but he was very late. He told me his shift finishes as soon as he finished my job. So definitely he was in a hurry.

I dont think he did a proper checking.

Don't know what he did but my Wi-Fi speed increased but ethernet dropped. He blamed my laptop for that saying as it is very old it is not picking up the speed. So I need a new laptop.

Just dont understand, if it's the laptop, then why it was okay fine last week. how come it was giving me full speed.

I am not a technician, but still, feel lost.

Just hope someone will explain it to me in laymans language

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Hi Nawaz5,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've just had a look at your account using your Forum Details, and I can confirm that there are no issues showing from our end. All of your levels look within spec, and everything seems to be operating well.

Could you please explain a little bit more about the problems that you've been having with your broadband?

Kind regards,

Laurie

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Well, up to the beginning of last week everything was fine. towards the end, speed dropped for both Wi-Fi and ethernet. Tried restarting the hub a few times. did hard reset too twice as advised by VM technical operator.  No luck. so the tech operator remotely checked as much as possible and agreed that there was a problem. as my wired desktop was on showing 90mbps download speed and WiFi about 9/12 Mbps.

so the gentleman booked an engineer for me for Monday between 4 and 7 pm and the rest  ? you already know that.

Re: Still waiting for the technician to fix my broadband

Thanks for confirming those details. Would you be able to run these speeds tests again so that I can check how your broadband service is currently looking?

Kind regards,

Laurie
