Slow 1gb speed’s, modem mode and Google Mesh

Hi all

Just been upgraded to 1gb with the new Hub etc. 

All working fine from a networking and connectivity POV; I have always used another router for my VM internet and this is no different. 

Hub (5?) in modem mode - all set up and confirmed on the admin page

Connected directly to my Google Mesh router via Ethernet cable supplied by VM

All mesh points working properly and connectivity is great  

BUT - when testing my speeds, the max I have got is around 550mb max  

can anybody provide any advise please?

Thanks for that. I’m thinking the Google Home app is testing the download using the Ethernet cable direct from the modem yet the various speed test sites are obviously from the mesh points to my phone or device resulting in slower speed’s?

Correct. Wireless can be very inconsistent.

Does your phone automatically connect to the strongest mesh point supplying the best signal? So if you move throughout your house does your phone auto disconnect and reconnect to the best and strongest wifi signal?
