Shared connection

Next door have just had Virgin Media installed and I'm not happy with the way they have done it, they have run a wire through my tube where my cable runs, their wire goes into my box then the technicians have run another wire from my box across to next-door and created another box for them but the connection for the service comes from my box

Now they have done this and come onto my property without my permission, I was in at the time but in bed, as I am not well at all - so I couldn't go out to stop them!

As for the neighbours we don't talk and haven't since we moved in 9 years ago (language barrier) but it's not really their problem as it's the technicians that have installed it

surely if they want virgin media then they should have their own cable going to their house and not coming through my connection,

I phoned and complained about this a week before they installed it telling them i didn't want to share my connection - but they did it anyway.

I have written to virgin but no reply yet, I have been with them since Telewest and don't expect to be treated this way!

i now have to fight to get this connection as their own and not shared with me, I'm trying to get a manager to come and see me but this is proving impossible, and the nearest I have got is to have an engineers visit on the 28th, I really think someone should come and see this as I never gave them permission to do this on our property, I'm so angry

now, after over 23 years I'm thinking leaving and telling them to take the connection out my house and ill go elsewhere - there are plenty providers to chose from these days. i cant belive they have done this

Re: Shared connection

This is a common and standard practice - my mate down the road has a shared connection - and has no issues.

Re access permission - I am no expert - but as you have VM services installed at your property AIUI permission was granted to them at the time of install to access the property - its probably a "Wayleave".

A VM person will respond here in a day or two and be able to advise more. But leaving VM is of course always an option unless the Tech can sort something for you on the 28th.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 1 WiFi, 1 on PA) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On 250Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Re: Shared connection

Hi chrisichris,

Thanks for your post and welcome back to the community.

Firstly apologies for the issues faced with this, as @jbrennand alluded to, this appears to be done via the Wayleave process, did our team advise of this?

May I ask with the appointment you have, what is that regarding?

Thanks,

Kain
