Setting up a Pod

monet208
Dialled in

Just replaced my booster with a Pod

The booster did not work initially because it was put in a socket in the dining room that was not on the same ring circuit as the router unit

( our house was extended with a new ring  circuit in the extended part of the house -dining room)

So I plugged in the kitchen which has the original ring circuit and it worked well but communication with the wireless security camera outside the dining room was intermittent

Does the same rule apply to the Pod as it would be better for us to plug it in the dining room( new ring circuit) as it would be nearer the external wireless security camera

thanks

As far as I know the Pods do not use the house wiring for transmission between devices.  They just relay the wifi signal between the Pods and the Hub.

The important thing is distance, as the Pod should be placed halfway between the Hub and the black spot.

Hi @monet208,

Welcome back to our Community Forums and thanks for your post.

In regards to setting up and finding the  best spot for your intelligent WiFi Pod, we suggest the following:

• Make sure to keep the WiFi Pod out in the open.
• Place them no more than one floor or two rooms away.
• Plug in the new WiFi Pod halfway between the Hub and where you’re experiencing poor WiFi as already mentioned by @Adduxi 🙂
The WiFi Pod light will flash for up to 10 minutes while connecting, and go off when it’s ready. Please give your Pod up to 24 hours to do its thing. If your WiFi coverage doesn’t improve after 24 hours, try plugging the WiFi Pod into a few different places around your home to find out what gives you the best coverage.

I hope this helps and do let me know if you need any further assistance.
