Service dropping on and off constantly

Hello

So just new and my first post just registered via my mobile data as my home wifi has been intermittent last few days.

my wifi has been going on and off the last few days to the point today where it is constantly dropping on and off.

I have tried the usual reboots and connection checks.

i have run service stays checks which keep failing

I phoned 150 and a message says there is a problem at my home address which an engineer knows what the problem is and it will be fixed by 14:30 today

is this because I’m unable to run the equipment  status check or is it a genuine fault. I’m convinced the super hub has packed in . It has worked faultlessly for years in the same position

any help much appreciated

Re: Service dropping on and off constantly

What is your connection like with a direct connection using a Cat 5E/6 cable between the Hub and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

Re: Service dropping on and off constantly

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: Service dropping on and off constantly

It’s weird

it’s been working fine for nearly an hour after a 25min wait phone call.

I received a text straight after the call to say the issue had been resolved .
I was told during the call cables may have been disconnected in the cabinet to resolve the ongoing issue.

weird immediately after the call the fault disappears

Re: Service dropping on and off constantly

There was a area fault resolved late last night

at no point did my virgin media current status show the area fault until I contacted virgin firstly by phone then by message

it would help if this is updated right away to stop customers spending time and frustration checking their hardware equipment

on a positive note I received a text message when repair done and touch wood has been normal since

thnaks
