Router problem

Hi,

  • I have a Hub3.0.
  • Have Virgin broadband - usually get 20-30MBps (in either direction)
  • Usually, the WiFi is pretty stable
  • In this last week, it has been super unstable
  • Lots of router drop-outs
  • Having to restart the router a number of times
  • Also, have a range of SONOS speakers connected to the router, wirelessly
  • With the router going down, the SONOS stops working
  • After 90 minutes on the phone with SONOS, they said "Router SSID keeps changing"
  • I have run the Virgin router diagnostic on this Help site and it says 'There's a problem' but could not diagnose it further.
  • Broadband in my area (BN1) is showing as 'no problems to report'

I am thinking I might have a faulty router, can you please help, thanks, Patrick

Re: Router problem

Is it just WiFi dropping?

Re: Router problem

Hi Gary,

Thanks. WiFi is dropping. SSID keeps changing too (without any intervention my end at the 192.XXXX).

Cheers,

Patrick

Re: Router problem

I am no expert. But I was told the name of the SSID was showing in logs as having changed from VM3XXXXXX to another name. And there possibly also being 2 x SSIDs as well. Which sounds a little unnecessary!!

Thanks,

Patrick

Re: Router problem

SSID’s don’t change themselves and Sonos devices only connect on the 2.4Ghz band anyway.
