Router keeps dropping forcing reset

Let me start by saying yes all connections have been checked the device has been restarted and reset. connected via a cable. and this happens intermittently.

We have a 70mb connection and when it works its great. however, I've noticed that if I download something (ie using full bandwidth) and finishes it nothing else can connect to the network once it has downloaded (ie that machine turned off). I tried connecting from phones, consoles and Ipads and they all do the same. The only thing to do is to reset the router. This happens at least 2/3 times a week and has been for the past few months.

The lights are all flashing normally like it is being used but no machine is on, and i double checked the router log and no devices are connected.

We have hub 2

Re: Router keeps dropping forcing reset

I've flagged your post for VM staff to respond, but looks like a simple problem that your downstream power levels are too low.  If that's the case it will need a technician visit, and there's a good chance they will replace your antiquated Superhub 2.

I also note you're on 70 Mbps, so a legacy speed from at least four years ago, possibly as much as ten years.  You could possibly do a lot better by phoning up (select options about your account and that eventually lead to "thinking of leaving") and tell the retention staff that you can get a better deal at that speed from an Openreach ISP (do your research so that you can quote the price).  However, probably best to wait until the Covid-bunglathon is over and VM have managed to get customer service back to some semblance of basic adequacy.

Re: Router keeps dropping forcing reset

Thank you for getting back to me, I just doubled checked and we are currently on 100mb not 70mb.

Re: Router keeps dropping forcing reset

Hi Rm47,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Very sorry you're having some issues with the hub, this isn't good.

I'd love to take a closer look but I've been unable to locate your account. Would you mind popping me a personal message with your full address and name so I can see what's going on?

Thanks.

Re: Router keeps dropping forcing reset

Thanks for the details you sent via personal message.

I've had a look and there's no issues showing here with the hub, but there are some showing with the TV which we're going to need to send an engineer for.

I will pop on a note about the hub issues though and I'm sure they can do some checks whilst they're there.

For details of the visit please check your online account, if the time and date doesn't suit you can pick something more suitable and you'll need to ensure that there is somebody over the age of 18 in the property at the time.

Let us know how it goes.
