Router firmware

Hello I was wondering, do 1 need to update the firmware on my virgin router or does it do it automatically. As I've reset it, but it still lags, I've updated the firmware on my netgear wifi extenders,

VM do the firmware updates as and when they are needed.  No input from the end user is needed.  🙂

Firmware updates on VM hubs happen automatically.

VM, like many ISPs, use TR-069 (CWMP) to manage their CPE, including roll out of firmware.

A server (ACS) will send out updates automatically.

There are various explanations and details online.

I know a bit about Wi-Fi, Telecoms, and TV as I used to do it for a living but I'm not perfect so don't beat me up... If you make things you make mistakes!
