So ive had the standard lukewarm performance from the Hub 3 (bad speeds, poor wifi, generally unreliable connection). I decided to swap to a TP Link TL-WDR4900.
Instant imporvement, better Wifi, speeds more like what we're paying for (300~ MBPS).
However, every now and again the signal tanks. It sometimes happens a couple times in a day, sometimes multiple times an hour. Its most noticeable when online gaming, everything lags, voice comms garbled and delayed and DC from whatever im on. I have however run ping tests over the course of the day and found it happens even when not much is on the network.
I'm connected by cable.
I've rebooted everything.
Multiple devices affected.
Ping tests to TP-Link router are a consistant <1ms.
Ping to virgin hub fluctuates between 1ms and 11ms.
Tried tweaking MTU size incase it was dropping packets because of that but no joy. (not returned to 1500 default, confirmed this by incremental packet tests with google.com and this does seemt o be the correct value.)
Ive setup a BQM, not much on it yet but ill keep updating it here.
