Regular Internet Dropouts

I’m getting regular internet dropouts, both wired and WIFI connections. It randomly drops several times a day, just for a few minutes, then back up as normal. Very inconvenient when working from home.

Ive had 2 engineer visits and he’s been great to be fair. Upgraded my Hub to a Hub 5, then stripped back all my connections inside and outside the house… 20mins after he left, it dropped again. Numerous resets don’t make a difference.

I’ll look at sorting the thinkbroadband thing so I can get some more data collated. But logging on to my hub I can see loads of T3 timeouts; DBC-REQ mismatches; and DBC-ACK not received (whatever they mean!?)

Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly,

check for any “known network faults in your location - Try in 2 places

1) Try the “check service,”Area status webpage (https://www.virginmedia.com/help/service-status)

2) Then also Try the “free & automated” Service Status number - 0800 561 0061 - which usually gives the most up to date info. and tells you of more local issues and fix estimates, down to street cab/ postcode level.

If nothing is being reported on there, from the "router status" page - just copy/paste the normal “Formatted Text” (not images) 3 FULL sets of data onto here – 2 tables from the Downstream, 2 from the Upstream, & the Network Logs pages. Don't worry too much about the formatting it can be easily read & DON’T include personal data or MAC addresses - blank them out - if you copy/paste the data, the board software will do this for you (you may need to click the "submit" button again). If character limits are “exceeded” - just do two posts

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Thanks for the info John. There’s never been any service issues when I’ve checked at the time, but I’ve not tried the phone number.

I’ll post my router stats when I get home this evening. I have taken screen shots of the network log the last couple of time I’ve had dropouts (attached)

Yes the internet drops on all devices, both wired and WIFI. I’ve had 2 engineer visits who says he can’t find anything abnormal, but has gone out of his way to check everything anyway. First time he gave us the new hub 5. Second visit he stripped back all the connections both inside and outside the house and tightened everything up again. Still keeps dropping.

When I run the test now it’s shows an intermittent signal issue in my area. This has been ongoing for about 4 months now. Some days are worse than others, but when the wife is working from home, it’s incredibly frustrating. I'll also add that service area webpage, app and phone line all say there are no issues in the area.
