Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

hi

I have a issue with the new superhub 4 regarding port forwarding and using DMZ,

I have everything setup exactly the same as the superhub3 but it just doesn't forward the ports. I have tried multiple devices and now I have now external access using my new ip address. it seems the SH4 is lacking information like subnet and gateway details too.

also getting higher wifi speeds that 600mps seems impossible

anyone else have this issue.

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

my phone is connected at 866mbps and struggles upto 500, also the sam knows check shows im getting 1.150gbps but the modem only has 1gb connections why not 10gb connections to future proof it.

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

10Gbps ethernet ports would be useless unless your devices also had 10Gbps ethernet ports. do you have any devices that have those?

your wifi device may be capable of 866Mbps but what doesn't mean it will always achieve that in the real world. there are many factors that adversely affect WIFI speeds at any given time.

You can use the hub 4 in modem mode with your own super router with 1Gb ports.

but that would also have the same ethernet port limitations as the hub4.

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

WiFi is half duplex, so if it’s connecting at 866 you won’t get above 433mbps ever (and in reality a little bit less than that even if next to router).

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

hi I didn't know wifi was half duplex.

has anyone got a answer for my DMZ port forward issue. I have set up a mesh wifi using the router in modem mode and it seems to work that way.

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

I had the same problem. Virgin blamed my phone and laptop but i got a netgear nighthawk router and they get 900mbs now. 10gb ports or even 2.5gb would be the only way to get the Sam knows speed. I wanted to get my own modem and virgin said no. I tried a switch with 2 10gb ports to try linking 2 1gb lines to it and the sh4 wouldn't support that too

Re: Problem with the superhub4 1gb connection

Yes - I have the same port forwarding issue although sometimes it does work so it seems hit and miss.  I have port forwards set up for security cameras and they sometimes work in the morning then when I check 5 minutes later they are no longer working.  My external IP can still be pinged and the port checks show that thy are open.  I have static IPs for the target boxes and these are OK - its just the forwarding that works one minute and not the next - really odd!
