Post RS Errors

Over a number of week now we have been experiencing very slow internet speed. We are on a M600 package but speeds were 20 - 40. The weekend we had an engineer visit who i have to say was excellent, changed a number of item including the router itself he could not eliminate out errors. By the time he let speed were up and error were zero.

Checking this morning, out internet speed a varying again and I have noticed were have pre and post RS errors after only having new equipment 2 days ago.

Does anyone have any advice, suggestion or is what I am seeing normal?

Re: Post RS Errors

You need to post 3 FULL sets of data onto here – 2 pages from the Downstream, 2 from the Upstream, & the Network Logs page. Don't worry too much about the formatting it can be easily read & DON’T include personal data or MAC addresses - blank them out - if you copy/paste the data, the board software will do this for you (you may need to click the "submit" button again.

Also, in the meantime... if you haven’t already, set up a free and secure “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph” (as per instructions on the TB website) when it starts to develop.

Re: Post RS Errors

I've added the downstream upstream and log data below.

Also signup for the broadband monitoring. As soon as I start seeing result i'll post the link .

Re: Post RS Errors

All stats look OK - RS errors dont seem to be increasing.

What happens when you connect on an ethernet cables as it may just be a wifi issue. Can you try this...
______________________________

As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a known good and working Cat5e (or better) ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” (see VM website for “How To”). Test at speedtest.net (not using their App!) to your nearest VM server - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot the device into safe+networking mode and try again.

There are many posts on here where unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

Re: Post RS Errors

Hi John

I did what you suggested over the weekend.I didn't have the Hub in modem model. Still deciding n which router to purchase, so gave the speed test a got with everything else as you suggested just on the hub is modem mode and ended up with speed over 400, which i would say means everything thing is running pretty well.
I will end up purchasing and external router as this can't be a bad thing. At this point i'll also be getting a ethernet switch as i slowly installing a wired network around the house. Downstairs complete, First floor and loft area next.
Thanks for your help
Cheers
Paul
