Noises Hub - recently changed

Tonight my hub’s fan has been extremely loud and the top and the bottom of it have been hot. 
We recently had an engineer out who replaced the hub etc due to poor connection problems. 
He advised on appropriate ways to have the box in the room.. away from the virgin TV box etc - but the fan has never made this much noise before or remained as hot. 
Advice much appreciated. 

(all usual on/off plug in/out air vent elated positioning)

What Hub model is it and what colour light is it showing ?

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 1 WiFi, 1 on PA) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On 250Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
