No Social Media on VM Wifi

For the past month or so I have had trouble connecting to social media sites (including FB, Instagram, Zoom, and Skype) whilst on my home WiFi.

When I am connected to the WiFi other sites seems to load, but not these.

I have been on the phone in the past two weeks no less than six hours. An engineer came out and said he had fixed it (but it wasn’t fixed), and VM sent us a new router which, again, didn’t fix the issue.

I have read on here about the ‘child safe” settings but these have been turned on then off again numerous times.

Also have rebooted the Hub.

in the past month I have drained my phone data trying to hotspot my internet to allow me to connect to Skype meetings, and I don’t want to have to do it again!

Any suggestions would be grateful appreciated.

Thank you 🙂

Re: No Social Media on VM Wifi

Have you checked in your account on the VM website at the "My Apps" link and see if any of the "childsafe" protection filters are switched on?

Re: No Social Media on VM Wifi

They are not turned on - they’re all switched off. The error code is

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR if I try and go onto social media or Skype etc

Thank you 🙂

Are you using a Windows PC by any chance with Chrome?

That sounds like childsafe error message.

Have you tried manually changing the DNS in the device to something different?

Try using Google's DNS which is

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4
