New router or new point in son’s room?

Hi

Im on Virgin 200 broadband and my son says he can only game at night due to lagging etc.

I’ve read that a new router will make things better? What do people recommend or would a new point in his room be better and how much is the cost?

thank you

If the connection is ok at certain times you could be in a congested area (Too many users accessing the services at the same time).

Could you create a BQM (Broadband Quality Monitor) and post the live (Shared) link?

Re: New router or new point in son’s room?

Re. gaming... my son is a semi-pro gamer who says that wifi is the work of satan. He will only ever game on an ethernet cable connection. If you can, run Cat6 cable from the Hub to the room and use that to feed all his devices.

That said, he uses a pair of high quality powerline adaptors for his connection. However they have some limitations for their use and also cost ~£90 - and for around that money you can get a decent introductory Mesh system (look at TP-Link Deco M4, for example).

Silly question but if I test wired does he have to have it on gaming.

It won’t let me create a graph. It says that IP is already being monitored
