NEW NAS, ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE

thinking of getting as my mates say "a proper nas"
currently have 2 WD My books which dissapeared a while ago. im gonna unplug them and get rid

it has to be something that plex works on as my mates setup looks sooooo sweet

nearly spent £600 on one earlier today on ebay until my mate said "dont get this one its not plex compatable" so i cancelled my bids

even if i just buy the nas with no hardrives ill buy them seperately

im lazy basically i know i could look on google but i thought id see what you guys reccomend

Any nas drive and get a raspberry pi 3 to run plex

ive got an nvidia sheild to be honest just need a plex compatable nas to run it all sweet

The problem with Plex is that the server needs a certain amount of power for transcoding. My Synology NAS with its modest CPU and RAM cannot cut it so there was no point in keeping Plex (I installed it as an experiment but it's now removed), but IMHO it's daft to use Plex for what I do, i.e. play DVD and BD video rips for which I use a proper media player (a Dune HD) with videos streamed from the Synology across the Ethernet LAN using SMB and NFS.
