Multiple Hub 3s, terrible WiFi in small home. 3rd Party Router recommendations please?

Hi

I've had multiple Hub 3s, however the Wifi has been atrocious, even when in the same room. It is temporarily fine when I reset the router, and split the 2.4/5ghz networks, however evntually, it becomes very slow, with zoom calls cutting out, and social media etc not loading properly. Speed via Ethernet is fine which leads me to believe it's a crappy router.

Myself, like most other people, are working from home, and I can't afford to have a bad connection, especially as I'm paying for 200mbps, therefore I'm now looking for router recommendations, something that works well with the Hub 3.0 in modem mode.

I'm not looking for a mesh system, as I honestly don't think it's worth it (I live in a normal 3 bedroom semi-detached home, not large at all). I'm hoping one good router will cover my home

Thanks

If you've had multiple routers and the problem persists, it is very unlikely to be faulty routers.  Don't spend a penny on a new router or mesh until we've got a clear take on what's happening.  As a start, suggest you post the hub's status for Donwstream, Upstream and Network log.

Re: Multiple Hub 3s, terrible WiFi in small home. 3rd Party Router recommendations please?

Thanks. Do you mind telling me how to post those details?

the reason I think it’s still the router is because it’s purely the WiFi that’s bad. Ethernet wise it’s amazing, but after a while, the WiFi just becomes patchy, however that being said, if I reset it, create 2 brand new networks, it’s fine for a couple days.

Re: Multiple Hub 3s, terrible WiFi in small home. 3rd Party Router recommendations please?

As Andruser says - you have had multiple Hubs - so its not a Hub issue.
You say ethernet connections are "amazing" and it's its just wifi.
If that is the case, I would be taking a punt and ditching the Hub's "average" wifi and getting my own much better quality wireless equipment. I did that many years ago and have never had a wifi issue.

But would be worth looking at the stats - see protocol below...
--------
In your browser’s URL box type in http://192.168.0.1 (or http://192.168.100.1 - if in modem mode) and hit return. On the first page up [there should be no need to login if you have done so before] click on the “router status” icon/text at bottom-middle of first page up and then copy/paste 3 FULL sets of data onto here – from the Downstream, Upstream, & Network Logs pages. Don't worry too much about the formatting it can be easily read & DON’T include personal data or MAC addresses - blank them out - if you copy/paste the data, the board software will do this for you (you may need to click the "submit" button a second time).

Do as John suggests to post the data, but if you paste it as "formatted text" it makes life sooo much easier for us.  Whatever you do don't post as images, often they're illegible due to poor resolution, they take time for the mods to approve them, and if they show IP or MAC addresses they won't get approved.

Re: Multiple Hub 3s, terrible WiFi in small home. 3rd Party Router recommendations please?

Logs posted above and here, apologies, I've tried to format as best as possible

FYI, I don't mind spending between £100 - £200 on a decent router as my livelihood now literally depends on having a good wifi connection throughout the day, but can this router be 'Mesh' ready for the future? I'm planning on possibly extending the house/loft to have a home-working space 1-2 years from now.

I'm not too keen on a massive mesh network with access points jotted around the house currently, but would love if the router I get now is Mesh ready for the future, as I can even run ethernet wires so there's optimal coverage.

Need downstream levels as well, but those upstream are bad, should all be 64 QAM. You probably need a technician’s visit to correct. Don’t even think of getting your own router until your circuit is fixed. Call customer services and report the issue or wait awhile for a VM staff member to get to your post.
