Wow I joined this community yesterday to get some help with a issue with my WiFi but I wish I hadn't joined now a member didn't not even read my post and just started copying from VM page that didn't even answer my question he completely avoided it and was blaming my wifi can someone else help.... My router rebooted it self my WIFI SPEED WENT FROM 267MB DOWN TO BETWEEN 50MB AND 100MB and all he kept saying is that my WiFi is not guaranteed speed so right okay I've been getting high speeds over WIFI for the passed 3 years so why stop now I'm sorry but a member absolutely upset me he had no clue and just kept feeding me the same crap like a dam BOT

Re: Members

Welcome to the Trials & Tribulations of Wi-Fi

The problem with Wi-Fi is that it can be brilliant at breakfast time and useless by lunchtime and you haven't changed anything, BUT, something, somewhere has changed, then you can spend hours and even days trying to find a fix for something that can be totally out of your control.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you remove all the internal walls, water, electronic and electrical devices, metallic pipes and conduits and wrap the whole building in a thick lead shield you will have a good chance of getting decent Wi-Fi from an ISP Hub.

Just a few things that can affect Wi-Fi in the average home …

Mirrors, furniture, fish tanks, people, radiators, walls (some more than others), cordless phones, baby monitors, microwave ovens, fridges & freezers, TVs, next doors Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi equipment, DAB transmitters, the list is endless.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Many people have accepted that the VM Wi-Fi is poor and have purchased third party equipment that is much, much more powerful than the VM supplied kit and once set up have wondered why they waited for so long.

So can you tell me why for the passed 3 years my WiFi has been perfect till VM updated there "router" I just can not get my head round all of a sudden WiFi speed drops.

I’ve already provided you with information as to why as has Mike

If you choose to ignore it that’s not my problem.

You've already confirmed it’s not a line issue as your wired speeds are fine.

There are hundreds of things that can affect the Wi-Fi broadcast from the Hub.

My VM Hub 3 had its Wi-Fi broadcast blown away when the Local Authority / Police used the CCTV camera on a lamppost adjacent to my house.

May I suggest that you download the free version of inSSIDer by Meta Geek, it will show the nearby Wi-Fi broadcasts that can / will be interfering with your own Wi-Fi.
