Macbook Air connected to wifi but download speed is 0

Hi,

I recently moved into a new flat and have started using Virgin for the first time. Ever since the hub has been turned on, my macbook air has been unable to load webpages consistently. My roommate and I both have iphones with no issues and their laptop works as well.

My macbook connects to the wifi but I am unable to look things up or load any websites. For some reason, for a few minutes at a time, it seems to work perfectly but then it cuts out. Additionally, if I load a page using mobile data for example a Youtube video, and connect back onto the network, it loads perfectly fine.

If anyone have any suggestions/solutions on how to fix this issue they would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

After a MacOS/iOS update, it may auto turn on Automatic Proxy Discovery for all Wi-Fi networks - so turn it off in network settings as per message 7. In iOs go to Settings>WiFi> tap the blue”I” icon and scroll down and make sure Configure Proxy/‘ is set to off - also that Configure DNS and Configure IP are set to automatic

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately none of the solutions have worked for me. Do you have any further suggestions?

There was this.....

After playing around a bit I found what the actual problem is: the Virgin Media router for some reason doesn't like it when the “Limit IP address tracking” option is on. I simply turned it off and the connection is back at full speed.
