I have three iMacs connected to my router. All Intel, all running at full network strength (~350mbps). All are wired to the router. I have now replaced one with an M1 Mac Mini. The connection is as slow as <insert word here>! Wireless barely reaches 50mbps download, although it has gone down as low as 10! Upload speed remains a steady ~30mbps as has always been the case. Network stability is also a major issue. Wireless connection to the Mini from my other machines is slow and unreliable; as it's in another room, I can't connect directly via ethernet, but I bought some powerline adaptors, which 'promise' speeds around 1gbps, but my standard connection speed is way below that anyway. Either way, this is unworkable. Is this down to the router (Hub3) or network settings? Connection between the machines is easy enough to do; it's the speed and stability that's the issue.
From your text I assume all speed test are via WiFi. VM do not guarantee WiFi speeds only directly connected devices with an Ethernet cable. Have you split the two WiFi bands as I suspect the Mac mini is connecting to the 2.4 GHz band. Go into the hub on 192.168.0.1 and in the settings rename the SSIDs to something like xxx-2 and xxx-5, also turn off smart WiFi. Then try connecting the Mac mini to the xxx-5 SSID.

Good advice from Tudor... I am typing this on my M1 MBAir and its lovely and fast. Top speeds are only ever reached on the 5GHz network. My SSID's are split as well but that's because I use my own Apple Airport Extreme router for the wifi 😎

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
Hi. Yes, just the one device. I have an iMac, an M1 Mac Min, 3 iPhones and 2 iPads. All run at full network speed - ~350mbps - except for the Mac Mini which is the latest addition. It's in the next room from the Hub, connected via WiFi. Getting about ~60mbps one minute and then about 5mbps the next! The new machine replaced an older Mac that was also connected via WiFi from the next room and was getting full speed as well.
Networking the Macs, I am unable to keep a steady connection via wifi - it either slows right down (literally waiting 10 seconds for a window to open) or drops altogether. I've bought some powerline ethernet adaptors which at least keeps the network connection steady now, but it's still painfully slow.
