M600 speed issue

I have just had the Ultimate Bundle installed by technicians which is claimed to be 600Mb but I am receiving 20-270Mb which is below the minimum statuary requirement of 300Mb. A technician has attended and claimed to make software configuration changes to my Hub3 but still the same. I was supposed to have a Hub4 but is currently out of stock, will this make a difference?

Re: M600 speed issue

It won't make much a difference, most people don't test properly using a wired connection

Re: M600 speed issue

So what speed should I realistically expect from the 600Mb connection via wifi? I am getting fluctuating speeds on wifi as low as 20Mb to 270Mb. The wired connections seem good.

Is there any way I can test the broadband speed not using wifi?

Re: M600 speed issue

If you have a hub 4 there is an option but not on a hub 3.

My note 20 ultra can get 400mb over wi-fi but my Chromebook can only get 150 to 220.

You probably are getting the correct speed but WiFi is the limiting factor as the hub can only do wireless AC rather than the newer wireless 6

Re: M600 speed issue

Thanks for the info. A Hub 3 was installed, waiting upgrade to Hub 4 due to lack of stock. I checked the Virgin business website which is a bit more informative than consumer and Virgin say the official way to check broadband speed on a Hub 3 is to connect a computer via ethernet and use https://www.speedtest.net/

Sadly my latest broadband speed test shows 94.75Mbs wired, 77.95Mbps Wifi, rather than 600Mbs or thereabouts. Sigh I will fight my way through to customer service again.

Re: M600 speed issue

VM supply you with a broadband connection, not WiFi. The speed guarantee is only applicable to Ethernet cable connected devices. VM, like all ISPs, do not guarantee WiFi speed due to some many variables that can affect the WiFi signal.
