Hi all,

I am looking for some recommendations on the best router for 1Gig package.

I am currently using Hub 5 plus 2 pods and while I get decent speeds most times of the day (with exception of evenings and weekends when the speeds are kind of reduced) but I also get quite frequent latency spikes throughout the day and even late at night when nobody at my home uses the internet. Its those spikes that drive me mad as gaming and attending the conference calls is very bad experience. 

Question to those that are using their own routers on 1Gig packages - have you noticed any difference in latency/ stability of connection? 

Which router would you recommend? Preferably looking for a device ideal for gaming and with possibility of using a WIFi extender(s) -

I was looking at these de3vices but not sure if spending so much money will actually improve latency/ PING in online games in any way?

"latency/ stability of connection" will not be improved by using your own router. It’s the circuit that needs looking at before you start spending money on your own router. Please post some stats and a BQM.

How to get stats from a VM hub (no need to logon to the hub)

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.0.1 router mode or 192.168.100.1 modem mode

• Click on the “> Check router status” button
• Click on the “Downstream” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply, do not take a screen shot
• Click on the “Upstream” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply
• Click on the “Networking” tab, copy the text and paste into your reply.
• Do NOT post photos or screen shots they will be rejected as they contain MAC addresses. The board software will automatically change MAC addresses to **:** if done as above.

• Setup a Broadband Quality Monitor and post a link to your live graph. It monitors your connection 24/7 and provides diagnosis of any underlying issues

Just get a router that has at least a 2.5Gb NIC to match the Hub 5's.  Any WiFi access points should be WiFi 6 for similar reasons.

Depending on how much work you want to do, I would suggest a non wifi router that has a WAN throughput to match the 1Gb tier and wifi 6 PoE access points.  You will also need a switch capable of at least 2.5Gb traffic.  Cable as much as possible with Cat 6a.

Some of the most adventourous here would be using Unifi, Mirotek, Draytek to name a few.

Consider your property and start with a drawing and planning the implementation carefully.

Don't expect any of this to be cheap!

@Adduxi Im not excepting it to be cheap but need is must so until BT FTTP gets rolled out on my street I need to be with this poor service provides so I am ready to spend some cash out on improving.

If you was to put something in your place - what would you go for?
