Latency Spikes

We moved house a year ago and decided to stick with Virgin but upgraded to the Gig 1 Fibre Broadband package.

Over the last few months the connection quality has steadily been declining, with random short bursts of connection loss and then devices reconnecting, high latency in online games and not even 1/10th of the promised download speed achieved quite often.

At the moment the worst issue is the high latency. I cannot play online games without lagging even on an ethernet cable with the device in question in a DMZ. Even when nobody is home the high latency still persists.
