Let me first state I am a network engineer 🙂
OK so the issue is simple once we get an into another area at home put iPhones keep losing connection to VM wifi back to 4/5G as we can get both.
I am currently working upstairs and my personal and work laptops are connected to WIFI with no issues. I get the full speed through tests and download weekly GB of data. To note I work on a work VPN which is very sensitive to network outages and none of those at all no dropouts. In other words WIFi for everything else is fine this includes
Apple Air
Apple iPad Pro
Dell Laptop - Windows
Apple iMac
Amazon Stick
Chrome Stick
Checking past posts regularly a fair few have complained about this but no resolutions at all throughout the chats. This is costing the family and myself data and no android phone to test.
We have two iPhone 13 and a 14 Pro ... I understand this maybe an Apple problem and not virgin but when downstairs sitting next to the router all is fine.
Has anyone got anything on this at all ?

After a MacOS/iOS update, it may auto turn on Automatic Proxy Discovery for all Wi-Fi networks - so turn it off in network settings as per message 7.
In iOs go to Settings>WiFi> tap the blue”I” icon and scroll down and make sure Configure Proxy/‘ is set to off - also that Configure DNS and Configure IP are set to automatic

Do you have pods? If not you could try this.
Separate the 2 WiFi bands on the hub to be xxx-2 and xxx-5. First try connecting to the xxx-2 SSID and see if it still switches to 4/5G. If not try the xxx-5 SSID go further away and see if it connects to the xxx-2 SSID or 4/5G. It could be a problem with the iPhone on a combined SSID not switching to the lower frequency. The manner of switching between bands is a joint venture between the source and target and I would believe anything of the severely locked down VM hubs.
