Is broadband being throttled?

I have an account with 200mbps broadband which is normally very quick. A few days ago we had an VM broadband and TV service outage and since then the speed has dropped to about 40mbps max. The online Virginmedia tests give a web error after running without providing a result and no amount of rebooting of hub, PC etc will help. Is VM throttling the service or is there a fault?

No it isn't throttled.

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may not be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If those checks are OK, factory / pinhole reset your Hub.

Thanks - I will go around again but strongly suspect a fault at VM end and will try the phone support number suggested as well.
