Internet drops roughly same time every night

Okay, so after "fixing" my problem with lag spikes and packet loss (by disabling the firewall!!!!!!!!) everything was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. Now every night around 10-11pm I get DNS bad gateway (using automatic DNS settings) i can't access anything online (hardwired) and also my wifi dies on every device.

I log in to the router and everything seems fine, thinkbroadband BQM looks normal. Restart the router and all is good again, until the next day. It did actually drop out twice today. Just feels like to me i've wasted my money on a shoddy 1gb service and a shoddier hub than the sh3.

Anyone had this issue or know how to fix. Driving me nuts!

Regards,

Pixel8ion

Re: Internet drops roughly same time every night

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Re: Internet drops roughly same time every night

Upstream levels are too high there. You’ll need an engineer visit.

Thank you for the reply. I already mentioned BQM doesn't flag anything, had one running since i had the new SH4

Thank you, that's extremely helpful. I take it an engineer can be booked from here once staff have seen the post?

Yes - or you could call it in but it's unlikely they'll understand what you're on about 🙂

Have you also checked that all the coax connections are nice and tight at each end (hub and wallbox)?

Re: Internet drops roughly same time every night

Yes, everything is tight. My last experience of calling them put me off tbh. In a phone call for about an hour after a hefty queue and then they laugh down the phone and hang up on me, plus i don't want to go through the turn it off turn it on, we made some adjustments so it'll work again ordeal
