Internet dropping, wifi outages and slow speeds with additional TP-link router

Hi,

Currently set up with a Super hub 3 in modem mode to a TP-LINK AC-1750 router to try and boost signal (in a regular terraced 3 floor house, equipment on central floor away from any electronics and fairly central to house plan). We upgraded in around January this year to the tp-link router addition and from 100 to 350 speed. I have found over the past few months the speeds have become increasingly slow with many dropouts, most days having to reboot the router for wifi to come back multiple times, however it did not feel much of an upgrade.

My question is there any possible tweaks or fixes that i can undertake to help improve the wifi signal as it may be the internet or the additional router?

I understand that with wifi speeds may not be 350 or thereabouts however for a flavour at most times of day, On 5 GHz get approx 100 speeds near the router, 1 room away it will drop to about 50. On other floors the wifi can be very poor with speeds of around 10. With 2.4 GHz, its almost un-usable on other floors as nothing will load on most devices.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Internet dropping, wifi outages and slow speeds with additional TP-link router

There’s 2 visible drops there.

one at 8:30pm is on the day before and one about 4:30pm today.

Are you saying it’s dropping more than that?

Re: Internet dropping, wifi outages and slow speeds with additional TP-link router

Also at pprox around 9am -10am today internet reduced in speed firstly and felt like a dropout for approx 5-10mins. Was on teams meeting which failed and had Skype for business running which went offline.

thanks

The drop doesn’t show in the graph.

Did any of the lights change on the hub?

Re: Internet dropping, wifi outages and slow speeds with additional TP-link router

Hi Nieche,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. My apologies for the broadband issues. I have checked the systems today and no issues are showing. The only pointer it's giving me is that the router has been up for 9 weeks. Please could you try a reboot for me and then monitor the connection?

Kind regards,

Re: Internet dropping, wifi outages and slow speeds with additional TP-link router

Have you rebooted your TP-link router at all?
I have a TP router connected to my hub3 in modem mode, just using the router to feed wireless around the house mainly 5Ghz.
I find doing a reboot of both router and hub3 modem every couple of weeks or so keeps the speed up to scratch.
