Internet Down today wednesday 30th June

Issues in the Huddersfield area today - Woke up to no/intermittent internet and this remains the case even after a full factory reset on the router.(all the usual telltale log signs: loads of post-RS errors, No ranging response, RCS partial service etc).

First VM agent (UK) said there had been some issues at the exchange and they'd had to reset their equipment, but it should be ok now...

Second VM agent (non-UK) did all the usual silly tests and concluded it was indeed not an issue with my equipment but there was a known issue in the area and to wait 24 hours...

24 hours is a long time to wait, so I'm wondering if anyone here "in the know" can see if there is a better ETA than this at all please?

Regards,

-M

Try this number: 0800 561 0061 for a more accurate ETA

Many thanks for the suggestion, but that automated status line denies all knowledge of any issues 😞

Re: Internet Down today wednesday 30th June

If that 0800 number and the Area status webpage" (link at top right of this forum) show no issues then its likely they have fixed it and all should be working normally. Or its an issue thats affecting just a handfull (or one !) customere

Whats it looking like now? If its still a problem - call in again and if they say there is a known fault get the reference number and the fix date/time estimate.

A VM person will respond on here but it can take a day or so.

Re: Internet Down today wednesday 30th June

Update: no useable internet most of the day yesterday - they clearly hadn't fixed any issues. BQM still showed it to be rubbish with lots of lost packets.

Finally was able to log a ticket and book an engineer for Friday.

Then this morning hey presto! everything seems fine! - good speeds, no lost packets and BQM confirms that it started to come good around 4am.

The odd thing is that the ping test on the router itself is still losing 50% of packets, but the same test from laptops loses none.

So we'll see if it stays up today and I'll cancel the engineer later if it remains up!

Re: Internet Down today wednesday 30th June

Can you post your Hub status and logs?
Someone should be spot if there is a problem that means the engineer is still needed
Navigate to http://192.168.0.1 (or http://192.168.100.1 - if in modem mode)
Don't log in!
Click on 'router status'
Copy/paste the data from each of the tabs. The forum software will remove the MAC addresses for you (you may need to click the 'post' button again).

Here's the network log. It only goes back as far as last night but it was the same story most of the day yesterday. As you can see it looks like no further issues since just before 4am:

The receive power levels seem a bit low to me, and all these post-RS errors were from yesterday (it's imposssible to tell if they're increasing today without writing them all down and comparing after a refresh, or rebooting the router).

Re: Internet Down today wednesday 30th June

a casual glance at a few of those post-rs error counts after a refresh shows that they are not increasing, so I think that today we're good!
