Intermittent drops out and slow speeds

Internet connect regular drops for a a few minutes randomly throughout the day, says connected no internet, we don't always lose the wi-fi connection. Sometimes we get total drops of the wi-fi. Regular have to reboot and reset the modem (hub 3). WFH and it will be fine for 2 of use to be in meetings for days at a time and then we'll get a bad internet connection message when there's only 1 of us in a meeting. At least once a week when we reboot in the middle of the day it takes ages for the hub to restart as it seems to be doing updates. Speeds range from 10-60mbs. Before Xmas we would get 50-90mbs most of the time (we pay for 100mbs). Drop outs have been happening since c.Aug. Speeds are same on wired and wi-fi. Wi-fi on 5G will hit 100mbs vm broadband quality dependant.

Re: Intermittent drops out and slow speeds

Stats are spot on. Post the network logs as well and set up a BQM as below.

Just to be clear (ignoring speeds for now) are you saying that devices connected on ethernet cable drop out at the same time as wifi ones do? If so what are the lights on the Hub doing showing at that time?

if you haven’t already, set up a free and secure “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph” (as per instructions on the TB website) when it starts to develop.

After doing some googling to ensure that site wasn't a scam..it doesn't appear to be, I tried the BQM and it crippled my internet on my PC so had to use a different device to disabled. Not doing that again. We do experience intermittent drops on the hardwired connections as well and seems to be at the same time as wi-fi. Lights on the hub don't change stays white , only changes when we restart the hub and it looks like it's doing an update. Never seen the update light without us restarting.

Re: Intermittent drops out and slow speeds

Setting up the BQM did nothing to your PC internet connection something else did.

If the power light remains a steady white and the only other light showing is flashing wifi then it is maintaining network connectivity and you wifi is dropping for other reasons.

You could try separating the SSID's of the 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi bands and switching off "channel optimisation" - that often helps Hub3 users get better wifi performance - but its still no substitute for better wireless kit.
