Intermittent Connection, Lots of Pre errors and some Post RS errors - SA1

Hi All,

Since Friday, my connection has not been stable. When it restarts some of the power levels are 0 or close to, but as the time goes on the power levels drops, it reconnects and the cycle begins again.

Also having a lot of errors in the logs. After only 45 mins online.

Upstream power looks to be borderline high! That, along with the PostRS Errors means you may need an engineer visit to rectify!

When was the last time you rebooted the hub?

The router was rebooted, 45 minutes before I opened this thread

Upload currently looks like this:

In that case - with the PostRS errors climbing; I'd say that there is likely noise on the circuit!

Re: Intermittent Connection, Lots of Pre errors and some Post RS errors - SA1

Hi @Alforme3,

Welcome to the forum page and thanks for posting this on here.

Sorry to hear you're having some intermittent connections but we can certainly look into this for you.

From taking a look at your account via your forum information, everything does look okay to me. There are no faults or outages but we can take a closer look if you are still experiencing drop outs.

Just some questions,

When you experience intermittent connection is it on all devices or just some?

How is your wired connection looking does this also have intermittent connections?

I can see that you have rebooted your hub recently but does this also include a pin hole reset?

Please do let me know.

Thanks

Sasha - Forum Team

Re: Intermittent Connection, Lots of Pre errors and some Post RS errors - SA1

Hello,

Yesterday i did a pin-hole reset and it looks like it picked up some new downstream channels. The Pre and Post RS errors have dropped substantially. with a few post errors that have been there since yesterday. Pre RS errors do increase by around 1 per hour.

Upload stats are still around the same power levels:

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

16030003450.3512064 qam1
23940000048.8512064 qam4
34619998049.3512064 qam3
45370000050512064 qam2

Other than a T3 and a T4 timeout at 2 and 3am. There hasn't been an issue:

04/05/2021 02:47:33criticalReceived Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;
04/05/2021 01:33:13criticalNo Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

I have 1 wired device and 1 wireless device, when the connect was lost, both lost internet connection until it reconnected or i manually restarted the router.

Re: Intermittent Connection, Lots of Pre errors and some Post RS errors - SA1

Hi @allforme3

I have decided to book you an engineer and will PM you the details.

If you wish to change or cancel this, you can via your online virgin media account at your orders section.

If you do also have any issues please feel free to message me again and I am more than happy to help you.

At the top right hand corner of your screen you will see a purple envelope, please click on that and it will take you to PM's.

Thanks
