Hue bridge

I just got a Philips Hue Bridge, plugged it into the Virgin hub, but the bridge and hub will not connect to one another.  All I get is blue power light and occasional blinking network light.  Tried restarting several times, reloaded app several times.  Then plugged bridge into a spare Huawei router and the bridge connects fine and I get 3 blue lights.  But it needs an update and I have no sim in the router to connect to internet.  In any event I want to use the hue with the virgin router.  Why does it work with a cheap router but not with the virgin router?

Because virgin router mode is cheaper.

You can get a better router with 1Gb port for the hub in modem mode.

Re: Hue bridge

Solved as suggested - switched hub to modem only and use eero mesh with hue plugged into a switch .
