Hub5 performance off

Noticed increased buffering on the likes of Amazon etc, checked download speeds and around 47Mbps as opposed to 200+. Upload doesn't seem to have changed.

Hub network status is rather noisy, is this potentially a hub or street cabinet issue?

Re: Hub5 performance off

Yup  you have loads of post RS errors. Check all the connections are tight and try a pinhole reset of the hub otherwise you will probably need an engineer.

It might also be useful to check for local issues https://www.virginmedia.com/help/service-status

I had checked that again, there were some issues a couple of weeks ago i think but nothing current.

Re: Hub5 performance off

Actually tried a 'factory reset' first (ie via the web admin) and that seems to have resolved the problem at the moment. Back to 217 Mbps download.

I shall monitor and if this happens again shall try the pinhole reset. I believe the difference is the pinhole reset removes any firmware updates, whereas the factory reset does not...

Just as a FYI for any readers the 'reload configuration settings' from a file produced immediately before the reset attempt results in an error, 'file not recognised', but did appear to have restored settings.....

Re: Hub5 performance off

Yes, two in question are still different to the rest following the reset but channel 11 seems ok...

Re: Hub5 performance off

Coincidentally did have an issue resulting in complete outage for about an hour in my area yesterday evening that engineers were 'on the case'.

This morning speed tests showing 216/20 down/up but hub status still showing loads of errors, sufficient to warrant a engineer?

Re: Hub5 performance off

You still have a SNR issue on at least two channels, so yes, an engineer visit is required.

Re: Hub5 performance off

FYI, the PostRS erros, should remain at zero.  Any increasing numbers are a fault.  These are "lost" data packets and need to be retransmitted, hence they should ideally be zero.   PreRS errors are okay as they are errors, but corrected by the Hub without data loss.
