Hub Security / intermittent Ethernet ( not wifi )

been having the hub drop out , and no internet reported about every other day for the last few weeks.

Feels like a lot more,  After 10 to 30 minutes ,the internet comes back.

been working fine , if slow, for the last few years..

Done all the normal things, re booted hub, changed Ethernet cables, taken my Ethernet switch out of circuit, no difference.

Its just happened again, and now the hub is back up, thought I'd go in and check the power levels and log.

I can't as when I try to log in, it says some one else is logged in , come back later !

I can still read the status

and I'm getting lots of DHCP rebind warnings, DHCP renew warning, no ranging response, sync timing synchronisation failure issues.

Is it the heat, being British may be the gear can't cope unless its grey and over cast 😆

Re: Hub Security / intermittent Ethernet ( not wifi )

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: Hub Security / intermittent Ethernet ( not wifi )

It may be a good idea to carry out a factory reset on the Hub …

DO NOT DO THIS if the password on the base of the Hub is not legible or missing.

Instructions for Hub 3

Disconnect all unneeded ethernet cables from the rear of the Hub.

With the Hub Powered on use a paperclip or similar and do a pinhole reset.

Depress the pinhole switch for a timed 60 seconds then release.

DO NOT reboot the hub but allow it 5 to 10 minutes for it to boot itself up.

Once a steady white and no other lights are illuminated check your system again.

Re: Hub Security / intermittent Ethernet ( not wifi )

Thank you,

as I mentioned , I have done all the normal,

re boots, factory resets, checked and replaced connections, removed my gear and connect direct to the hub via Ethernet.

Still getting drop outs, still have the user already logged in error coming back time  and again,

As many others are on the forum,

Hi andrewmm

Thanks for posting and apologies for the service issues.

I've not been able to locate your account from the forum details provided, can you send them to me in a PM so I run some tests on these ethernet issues you're having.

re the connect app,

nope , we are not using the Virgin WiFi either but are hard wired direct into Hub
