Hub 5 speed

Dazzer21
Dialled in

Just upgraded from M500 to Gig1. Other than having initial issues with Safari on my Mac, now resolved, the speed has hardly increased. On odd occasion, a speed test has seen the figure go to around the 700Mb/s mark, in reality, it’s closer to 550Mb/s - that’s only about 20 more than I was getting on M500. The router is sitting 5ft away from the machine, in front of a window. If in excess of 1Gb/s isn’t possible, I’ll downgrade again.

What model and year is the mac and what OS is it on? Are you running any antiviral stuff or QoS package on it ? If so try turning it all off first

Can you do a "pure" speed test like this

________________________________

Connect the Mac, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub (use a RJ45 adapter for what ever port the Mac has). Then put the into “modem mode”

...or go into the Hub settings and turn off/disable the wifi and also disconnect all ethernet cables from the Hub. This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - or https://www.speedtest.net/ - try on 2 different browsers - as Chrome sometimes gives odd results.

What does that get
