Hub 4 drop out

Hi,

I recently upgraded to the hub 4. In the last 3 weeks I have had to restart it more than 10 times. I can also see from my security camera that it drops out for 1-2 hours at a time at night.

Once it is on it works fine for both WiFi and wired connection.

Any suggestions what I can do to correct? Or go back to my old hub. It needed probably 10 restarts in 4 years.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Hub 4 drop out

Hub 4 works best in modem mode then get your own wireless router with 1Gb ports.

I'll try modem mode. I've got Google wifi hubs.

Re: Hub 4 drop out

Yeah my virgin hub was connected to my Google mesh. I've switched the virgin hub to modem mode. I'll monitor over the next few days and see what happens.

If you left the hub in router mode with the Google Wi-Fi nodes and also running in router mode that’s likely that causes the dropouts

Re: Hub 4 drop out

Does modem mode kill the wired connection? The tivo box says it is not connected when I can see the cables is plugged in.

Re: Hub 4 drop out

Modem Mode only has one active ethernet port on the Hub, if you need more than one port look at getting an unmanaged / simple >> switch << to use.

In Modem Mode the Hub has no routing facilities.
