High post RS errors and frequent instability

Hey there,

Currently I'm at my wits end with this problem -- I'm experiencing frequent disconnections and I believe it's due to a high amount of post RS errors.

Since my line installation back in May, I've had frequent errors and have never been able to consider my line as "stable". It's fine until it isn't, then there's a whole ~10 seconds of network lag / disconnection.

I had an engineer out who turned my dBmV levels up as they were low, they now look like this:

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) SNR (dB) Modulation Channel ID

12510000007.340256 qam15
2203000000840256 qam9

Since then, the issue got far less frequent, although it still happens. My equipment is as follows:

Super Hub 3 running in modem mode, connected to a Draytek Vigor 2925n. I'm directly connected to the Draytek via an ethernet cable & speed test at my expected speed.

My post RS errors are as follows:

Clearly something is wrong there. Can anyone help me here? If not it'll be early cancellation and off to BT, rather a fifth of the speed over this diabolical stability issue.

Thanks guys,

Josh

Re: High post RS errors and frequent instability

Post the upstream logs as well and a live BQM share link rather than a static image.

When was the hub last rebooted?

Have you checked all connections are tight at the hub and wall box?

Re: High post RS errors and frequent instability

I have personally checked the connections / tightness of screws and such, and I have had an engineer out to attempt to resolve this in the past. I'd have expected they would be more well versed in how tight things should be and would have verified this too right?

Have you setup a BQM graph?

Thanks. It looks to be a line issue then. It would be wise to get an engineer booked either by calling in or waiting for a forum mod to reply here which could take a few days.

Re: High post RS errors and frequent instability

Gary, I just want to say thank you so much for your time. it's people like you that act as a bastion of hope that people can be good.

You have been absolutely critical in helping me diagnose this issue, and conform the the expected etiquette of these forums. Thank you for everything.

I'll likely wait for a moderator to comment here, maybe they can provide context to the problem as the previous engineer didn't see anything wrong with my line even when the dBmV levels were close to 0. I don't want to be doing their job for them ay!

Thanks again.
