High latency during daytime

Hi, I have been experiencing very high latency during the day, so it is impossible to work from home. Some days are worse than others. In the evening, though, there is no problem. Most days I have to tether to my 4G mobile phone connection to be able to do any work. For example, this afternoon, running ping -t google.com -n 50 in command prompt, I get a 134ms average round trip with 4% packet loss, while on 4G I get 45ms round trip with zero packet loss.

How is it that Virgin's Fiber broadband is slower than 4G?!

Re: High latency during daytime

Here is my BQM:

So it looks like over utilization. But why don't other providers like BT or Sky don't suffer from this problem? Can someone from Virgin please take a look at this for me? The internet is completely unusable, and I've been suffering from this for a year now. I will be switching to Sky or BT if this is not resolved quickly.

Re: High latency during daytime

Let the BQM develop for a full 24hr cycle - there may be other reasons at play, but see Andruser's comments on OU in message 4 of this thread.

Here is the BQM for the last 24 hours.

The thing is, I've been suffering from this problem for a year now, and it is obvious that it slows down during the day but is fine at night.

Re: High latency during daytime

Looks like the classic new "working/schooling/gaming from home" congestion syndrome. As Andruser says in the link above, I think VM are waiting it out to see if some normality returns when lockdowns are over
