Re: Gig1 broadband and hub4

Just to let you know that Virgin's Gig1 service is active in the following places as of Thursday 12th March 2020.

Prices start from £62 for the service, with £35 for the router (hub 4).

Birmingham

  • Walsall
  • Solihull
  • Dudley
  • Sutton Coldfield
  • Stourbridge
  • Tamworth
  • Redditch
  • Halesowen
  • Kidderminster
  • West Bromwich
Coventry
  • Rugby
  • Atherstone

Check your postcode availability for the service:

Also just a heads up most devices are not capable of getting speeds over around 450mb, some newer ones are capable of around 850mb and most flagships this year and some powerful gadgets such as the MacBook Pro 15" 2018 onwards are capable of receiving 1300mb so it's these devices that will really benefit from the full speed. Also for wired devices they need to have gigabit ethernet ports and make sure you use a cat6 ethernet cable.

Good advice.  But at busy times and sometimes always, as a first line of "defence", the experiences of folks on here is that it auto-diverts to "offshore".  There they then try and dissuade you from leaving and/or try and sort out any technical issues you may have via the usual script reading procedures.  You have to insist that you just want to cancel whereupon...  they have to divert you the UK call centre which is the only place that can be done - or of course - just hang up.
