Frequent outages since Saturday 30th for us and neighbours

I'm using a SuperHub 2 in modem mode. Since Saturday, we've been getting regular outages, several times a day and apparently always overnight.  I've got a couple of Thinkbroadband monitor charts to illustrate this.

Service is recovered when the Superhub 2 is rebooted.

We're in Area 31, Reading RG8 postcode.

Several of my neighbours who are also VM customers are having the same problem since the weekend.

Re: Frequent outages since Saturday 30th for us and neighbours

Post up the rest of the Hub data - for the Downsteam and Upstream channels.

Have you do a quick check that all of your coax cable connections are in nice and "finger" tight - at the Hub and wall box and also at any connectors etc. Ensure there are no “unterminated cable loose ends. Disconnect all the connections and reconnect to be sure. Also check that the internal wiring is ok with no kinking or chaffing, check that all looks good with the outside cabling and wall box.

Re: Frequent outages since Saturday 30th for us and neighbours

OK, I can do that. But when it fails, the DOCSIS layer still seems to be running fine.  If I use tcpdump on the interface of my connected router, I can see various bits of Broadcast traffic (e.g. arp requests) on the shared VM network.  However, the first hop router (i.e. the default router I get given by their DHCP)  in VM's network is unpingable.   Rebooting the smart hub is the only thing that fixes it.

Re: Frequent outages since Saturday 30th for us and neighbours

Of course now it hasn't failed for 2 days, despite me not changing anything... Hopefully VM have fixed whatever it was.
