There was a VM engineer working at the cabinet on the corner of Long Lane and Thodays Close when I walked past around 2pm today.
He said they had replaced a piece of kit back back in the central Cambridge data-centre which I think was the 13:36-13:50 outage. He had been waiting around all morning to record an outage and missed the 13:18-13:24 outage.
He said there will be another outage later this afternoon, of about 15 minutes when he replaces the cable between the cabinet he was at and the one downstream of it (further down long lane)
As with other intermittent issues he could not give a fix ETA as they don't know which bit of kit is causing the problem until it gets replaced.
Fingers crossed they capture it or that their changes fix this.
ps the VM staff on here. Can you put in a good word on the ticket regarding the engineer as I could he was trying he best to identify and resolve the issue
The VM engineers are at the junction box again until 4pm today(they tell me) hoping to catch the issue.
The one question they have that they cannot get a straight answer for is does this outage affected TV over VM?
If one of the others on here has TV and can say for definite if and how this affect the TV can you pop down to the engineers and give them this message. They say by knowing this they can rule out half the kit that may be a problem
I don’t use Virgin TV so can’t confirm either way. There have been lots of comments about the broadband/wifi service locally on Nextdoor site. I don’t recall any mentioning the TV service at all. So I’m tempted to say not.
Surely though, after this length of time of outages and customer contact into Virgin, they’d know if people were complaining about the TV service too and would share with the engineers.
