External Hub

Hi

I need my external hub (brown box) moved due to construction work.

I have spoken to VM but I would like some clarity on the point they were making.

If they move the box, then the connection to the internal hub will be via WiFi and not cable. This could impact my Internet connection.

Is this correct? When my external box is moved it will no longer connect to the internal hub via cable but via a signal?

I thought they would just reconnect the cable!

Thanks for your help.

Re: External Hub

The hub always needs to be connected by Coax to the wallbox.

Re: External Hub

Thanks guys,

So we are taking the brown box off as the wall its connected to will no longer be there.

Can VM then fit a temporary external box whilst we have the front extension built and then connect the external box to the new front extension.

Re: External Hub

all this work will cost you £99 per engineer visit - have you factored that in?

you should not be removing the box yourself though.
all works, be it removing, and reconnecting should be done by virgin themselves.

Re: External Hub

I don't think they'll keep coming back and forth - usually things like this involve a standard call-out charge of £99 per visit

Re: External Hub

Hello

Yes they will but you will need to be aware that would end up with 2 non callout charges of £99, it would be best for you to find a permanent place to put the box.

Re: External Hub

Thanks,

OK so the two options are 1) find a permanent place to refit the brown box on first visit and pay £99

or 2) have temporary external hub and then refit on front extension once built but pay two charges of £99.
