Ethernet connection

Hi

I want to use an ethernet cable to connect the router to both my TV and TiVo box.

What spec cable should I use? Cat 6 or above?

Thanks

John

Re: Ethernet connection

5e will be fine but Cat6/7 is usually "potentially better" as it has better shielding against cross-talk and interference. Whatever you choose - solid core is better than "stranded" cbles

Re: Ethernet connection

Ok thanks. I was thinking of going for cat6. Is there such a thing as oxygen free cables (OFC) as used in hifi systems? Generally it improves performance in that scenario and wonder if there would be any benefit for ethernet.
