Does your broadband connection sometimes drop out for a couple of minutes?
As others will definitely have experienced this, and Virgin were no bloody use in finding the problem, I thought I'd post the cause, which I finally found for myself.
If you connect via TP-LINK, plugged into a wall socket, then you need to know that the chinless wonder who programmed the firmware set it up to go into sleep mode if no activity is detected for a while. So all of a sudden, if you haven't changed your browser page for a while, you may find your connection freezes. The solution is to just switch the TP-LINK on and off (as quickly as you like - there's no need to wait).
Hope this saves people the incredible irritation I had having to trace the bug myself😊.

Also it’s not VM’s job to troubleshoot issues with third-party hardware.
