We got the recent message about the firmware upgrade and now several of our older wireless devices are refusing to connect to the network. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a new setting in the Home Hub that I can switch off to make it act like it used to?
The three devices affected are completely different, so the only suspect in this issue is the router:-
I'm not 100percent sure but some devices use 2.4ghz and newer ones are 5ghz. I think there is a setting in your hub to detect both settings. Maybe if they are older devices, they are using 2.4ghz and you need to enable this in your hub settings
Thanks. I've diabled 5GHz and now the Chromecast is connecting. I guess the update was the difference between those two screens on the links you sent - it used to be one or the other but now you can have both 2.4GHz and 5GHz (well, you can if you don't want all your devices to work 😄). I'll have to see if the changes stay in effect - we've had problems with it resetting itself and removing any port forwarding we'd set up.
I had the same problem with my old laptop, it was 2.4ghz only. One minute it would connect then nothing you could do would make it see my hub. I could connect it to any of my neighbours but couldn’t even see mine. Drove me crazy. 🤞
