Connection in a room causing me problems

Hi,

Been a virgin media account holder since 1st May moving from talktalk, However am finding that the internet service is not up scratch on what you offered me, I can connect in some rooms brilliantly and other not however when I do a blackspot check its sayings its great and no need for a booster however this is not the case for example: In the loft yes furthest place away from the router however my laptop, 2 phones and sonos and work laptop can connect, However my Ps4 connect why, am only getting at most 2mpbs?  Do I need a booster? If I do need a booster why don't you have them in stock?

Can you please advise.

Re: Connection in a room causing me problems

It's normal the further away you are from the hub the slower the speed and weaker the signal.  That's not a fault that's just physics.

You can buy your own WiFi extenders or you can call virgin to get there own ones posted out

Re: Connection in a room causing me problems

The scanning app isn't very clever.  It's probably detected you have a strong enough 2.4ghz (slow signal) but you may have a non existant 5ghz signal (fast).

The talk talk router may have a better range if they were in the exact same place as I imagine their routers are built for range rather than speed in mind

So you suggest I wait till my booster comes and see what that does?

Re: Connection in a room causing me problems

Get a router or mesh system from Amazon or run some wired AP’s

Re: Connection in a room causing me problems

If you have a booster it will help as your PlayStation can be hard wired into it
