Can't connect smart security to 2.4GHz on Hub 4

I have a smart security device that only connects to 2.4GHz. I have accessed my Hub 4 and changed the name and password for the 2.4GHz channel. I can successfully connect to this channel on my iPhone and PS4 but I can't connect to it with my smart home security base station. I've tried switching off the 5 GHz channel but that didn't help. I've tried switching everything on and off again. Please help.

Does the security base station need resetting to factory and then setting up again for your new ssid/password ?

The hub can sometimes not work with given devices so you may have to get your own wireless router with 1Gb ports and use the hub in modem mode.

The SimpliSafe hub was brand new so I'd assume it was set to factory settings, John.
I've tried restarting and disconnecting from power. I reset the hub as well.

So, I'd connect the router to the VM hub 4, then connect my home security to the router?

Yes just use the virgin box as a coax to ethernet converter. It's not very good at anything else.

Simplisafe depends on good WiFi so get a good WiFi router and preferably use battery backup for all 3 boxes.

Bit like asking "what's a good car"?

Depends... what features do you want, whats your location's layout and construction, what's your budget?

Re: Can't connect smart security to 2.4GHz on Hub 4

Unifi stuff is good but you might prefer something a bit more on the consumer level like Asus or net gear. That said there dream machine is supposed to be easy to setup but it is £380...

What's your budget? Is one WiFi good enough or are you looking for into a mesh solution?

Re: Can't connect smart security to 2.4GHz on Hub 4

Well, we have six adults living and working from home. Quite often all six connecting with laptops and a couple of PS4s too.
TBH, we never had much in the way of problems with the Hub 4.
