Buffering all the time

Hi,

I have been waiting for virgin to come to my area for years. So when it finally arrived I contacted BT and paid my contract out £150. I couldn’t wait to join Virgin and their amazing speed.


I went from BT 30mb to Virgin 100mb. I thought I was gonna see a massive difference in speed but no.

constant buffering specially night time.

sometimes it takes ages to open a page on web browser.

it can’t be the cable cuz it’s brand new. Hub is 3.0 also brand new.

is there anything I can do or was I wrong about virgin?

Connect to the hub by clicking on this link http://192.168.0.1/  That should pull up the log in page for the hub.  But don't log in*, just click on the link "Check router status"  That'll bring up a window with five tabs.  Open the Downstream tab.  Select all the text (Ctrl-A if using a keyboard), copy it (Ctrl-C), then paste it (Ctrl-V) into a reply here.  Post that, do the same for the Upstream and Network log.  You'll get an error message when you post the Network log, just click on "post" a second time.

Then we can check for any obvious problems with power, noise or error counts.

* If it's the first time anyone has gone into the hub's admin pages you will have to log in - do that, log out, connect to the hub again, follow instructions above.

Would also be good to see a BQM as per.....

If you haven’t already, set up a free and secure “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph” (as per instructions on the TB website) when it starts to develop.
