Broadband

Hi

I switched to Virgin a couple of days ago. The router is in living room But it does not work in a couple of the bedrooms. I used the app to check rooms and it told me to order a booster, I clicked on link now it says due to high demand they are no longer making them, anyone else have this problem?

Thanks, Amanda

Re: Broadband

Your best bet is to get your own router!

VM will lease you WiFi pods at a cost of £5 per month (£60 per year).

For that price you could get a decent quality router that will easily give a signal to the whole house!

Re: Broadband

You can use any router - I ended up with a TP-Link Archer c7 (From Amazon)

It doesn't need to be Virgin - just as long as it works with 'cable'

Re: Broadband

You dont unplug the Virgin one. but put it in modem mode and connect the one you buy to it on ethernet port one.

Good call!! - I should probably have mentioned that!!!! 🙂

If you do get your own router - follow this process to set it all up!

1. Navigate to 192.168.0.1
2. Log in to the Hub
3. Go to 'Modem mode' (on the left) and put the hub into modem mode
4. Wait until the bottom light on the Hub turns magenta / red (can take about 5 minutes)
5. Turn off the Hub
6. Power on and set up your new router as per the manufacturers instructions
7. Plug an ethernet cable (usually supplied with the new router) from port 1 on the Hub into the WAN (usually blue) socket on the new Router
8. Power on the Hub and wait about 5-10 minutes until it stabilises - You should have internet!
