BMQ test - Hub 4.0

Hi All,

Since about Nov20 I have been having issues with the internet, randonmly losing connection. I had the Hub 2.0, which VM said was the cause of the problem. They sent a Hub 3.0 which I set up, again having the same issues - losing connection daily between 10.45 and 11.15 pm and for a couple of minutes every hour.

On my numerous calls to their tech support I have been given several explanations, from signal loss to too many devices (100MB line with 4 tables, 2 laptops and 3 phones, plus a couple of Alexas and 1 smart TV).

Finally a technitian came yesterday, who installed a Hub 4.0 - yet the same problem remains.

I have the following BQM  -

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/41234262a96439fdb1216c3d6d703fa930...

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Re: BMQ test - Hub 4.0

Post the network, upstream and downstream logs from the hubs admin pages back here as text

Re: BMQ test - Hub 4.0

doesn't look like a typical overutilisation issue, which is probably a good thing 🙂

the spikes overnight seem to be every hour somewhere between :30 and :45 - it's too regular to be something random.. either a fault at the CMTS end of the connection that manifests in the hourly spike, or potentially something on your local network that's doing something every hour or so that's causing a problem for the connection?

someone who knows more about the wider VM network than i do may be able to shed some more light on the first assumption... as for the second based on what you've said is connected to the network, i can't offer up anything obvious I'm afraid 😕

it;s probably worth posting a full set of logs from your hub - browse to your hub on  http://192.168.0.1 - log in and browse to Advanced - you're looking for "Router Status" in there somewhere..  copy/paste the tables from the Upstream, Downstream and Network Log tabs back to this thread - you'll need multiple posts for this, the info wont all fit into a single one..

I used to get the regular hourly spikes on my Hub4 when in Router Mode that disappeared when changing to Modem Mode - it was talked about on here (although unconfirmed) that the hourly spikes are from SamKnows running an automated hourly speedtest on the Hub4 for "reporting purposes"...

I've been noticing some spiking going on with a Hub 4 I have running in Modem Mode, see below.
